Science Museum IMAX Cinema

Avison Young were appointed by the Science Museum Group as Project Manager & Contract Administrator for the refurbishment and upgrading of their IMAX cinema and surrounding areas. The appointment followed the successful delivery of other cinema projects including Odeon’s flagship cinema in Leicester Square.

The museum’s aim was to upgrade their cinematic and event presentation technology, which would deliver an enhanced experience for the screening of film and the delivery of events within the space.

The works included the installation of new IMAX technology, new projectors and speakers throughout and a new silver screen.

A full refurbishment was undertaken to the auditorium also, with new sound absorbing insulation, finishes and seating.

The project was competed on time and within budget in November 2020.
