Avison Young acts for Dobbies in respect of planning consultancy matters across the UK.
Our long-standing relationship has involved the provision of planning advice on their expansion plans across the U.K. for over 10 years. This involved securing planning permission for new garden centre developments in locations such as Liverpool, Gillingham, Ashford, Livingston and Carlisle.
More recently, Avison Young has been advising Dobbies on the demolition and rebuild of their garden centre at (Grovelands) Reading, the rollout of their retail village concept in Aberdeen, Braehead, Lisburn and Milton Keynes and planning advice in respect of the 37 centres acquired from Wyevale.
Avison Young’s role extends to developing the planning strategy for each site and managing a multi-disciplinary team, working collaboratively to support planning applications. These are also typically supported by retail assessments, produced by Avison Young, covering quantitative and qualitative deficiency matters, retail impact, sequential test, accessibility and sustainability matters.
